This week, we are honoring veterans in our district. Today’s Veteran Spotlight is Terry Stewart.
Terry Stewart, a native of Galva, served in the Marine Corps from 1993-1997. Corporal Stewart’s time with the Marines took him to Camp Pendleton in California and also overseas to Kuwait.
Cpl. Stewart worked as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician in the Marines, learning life and job skills he still uses today. Cpl. Stewart said he has always been patriotic and joined the Marines to do something different and learn a trade for life. He met a lot of new friends in the Marines, and he is proud of his son Zach, who has also joined the Marine Corps.
Cpl. Stewart’s most vivid memories as a serviceman came in Kuwait, where he met many people and saw the difficult conditions they lived through. When his son is home, Stewart said they enjoy their time visiting a local American Legion for breakfast and listening to other veterans’ stories. After spending time in California, Stewart is back home in Illinois and currently resides in Dahinda.
Thank you for your service!
