Rep. Weaver Issues Statement as Governor Signs Largest State Budget in History

Springfield, IL – State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Peoria) issued the following statement following the signing of the FY 2027 budget by Governor Pritzker.

“Governor Pritzker has once again signed into law the largest budget in state history. At a time when so many people are struggling with high property taxes, rising energy bills, and overall affordability concerns, Illinois families were greeted again with a budget that includes $800 million in new taxes and fees and no direct property tax relief. The Governor and majority party championed affordability this spring, but this budget delivers the exact opposite. Illinoisans deserve a government that fights for lower taxes and lower costs. We must rein in out-of-control spending and learn to live within our means, or else we will continue to see tax increases and rising costs going forward. Our priorities must change.”
