Teacher Recognition Spotlight: Colleen Kahl

This week’s Teacher Spotlight is Ms. Colleen Kahl, an educator at Pekin Community High School. Ms. Kahl was actually nominated by not one, but two students of hers. Here’s what one of them had to say about her and the impact she has on her students, fellow teachers, and the community:

“Ms. Kahl is the most involved and one of the most passionate educators I know. Whether it be the hours of extra time she puts into extracurricular activities like Student Council, Girl Up, or Best Buddies, to the effort she puts into creating an enriching curriculum in AP Psychology, Ms. Kahl always puts in the work. She’s a great example and leader within the community for students to see, but also an example for other teachers to be just as involved.

On a more personal level, Ms. Kahl has dedicated much of her time to providing me with opportunities or connections toward my passion for public policy. Her passion for teaching and her community is passed on to other students and teachers, and she deserves recognition for her achievements.”

Another student sent in this as well:

“This week for American Education Week, I would like to commemorate Ms. Kahl. Ms. Kahl is consistently a positive part of my day! she always has a smile on her face and is willing up to share her knowledge with others. I especially love when Ms. Kahl brings her therapy dog Harper on Mondays, it is always a great start to my week. Thank you, Ms. Kahl, for all of your dedication to your students!”

Thank you so much for the nominations, and thank you Ms. Kahl for being such a great leader at Pekin Community High School!
