Springfield, IL – State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Peoria) issued the following statement in response to the passage of the Fiscal Year 2027 state budget.
“The Illinois General Assembly passed another record $55.9 billion budget early this morning, with $800 million in new taxes and fees included. At a time when people are struggling with high property taxes, rising energy bills, and overall affordability concerns, Democrats did nothing to provide relief. Also included in the budget were legislative pay raises, more spending on illegal immigrants, and $220 million set aside for political pork projects. Illinoisans need a government that fights for lower taxes, lower costs, and lives within its means. We must rein in spending and change our priorities going forward.”
