The HOPE Chest in Pekin will be holding a Back to School Backpack Distribution event Saturday, August 3, at its Pantry location, 1416 N. 8th Street, Pekin. They will be giving away 600 backpacks, each loaded with grade-appropriate supplies, to area children.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and will continue until supplies run out. This incredible Back to School giveaway is possible thanks to the HOPE Chest, New Beginnings Church of Tremont, Tazwood, the Tremont Apostolic Church, and other donors.
Children MUST be present to receive a backpack, pick out the school supplies themselves, and be accompanied by an adult. Each student will also receive a coupon for 10 FREE clothing items from the HOPE Chest. In addition, Des the barber will be on site to give free haircuts to students.
