Congratulations to Pekin Police Officer Terry Lair, who has been named the Illinois Army National Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer of the Year! Sgt. Lair competed at the Illinois Army National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition April 12-14 in Sparta. He is a noncommissioned officer with the 44th Chemical Battalion based in Bloomington.
This competition tested soldiers’ physical endurance, mental toughness, leadership abilities, analytical skills, and decision-making skills; and it concluded with a 12-mile road march with full military gear and rucksack. Sgt. Lair has now earned the right to compete at the Midwest Regional Best Warrior Competition in two weeks.
Sgt. Lair, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to our country and the residents of Pekin! We are truly fortunate to have you representing our community and helping keep us safe.
