Rep. Weaver Honors Kewanee Ambassador and Entrepreneur

Earlier this year, the Kewanee community lost one of its greatest ambassadors and entrepreneurs. Philip Hackman “Phil” Good passed away on February 20 at the age of 89.

Phil Good was born and raised in Kewanee and joined his father, Everett, in the family furniture business in 1957. Phil became the third-generation owner of Good’s Furniture and Mattress, a cornerstone of downtown Kewanee that remains a mainstay of the community. Good’s Furniture is currently in its 129th year of operation.

Good’s Furniture transformed into a thriving enterprise under Phil’s leadership, establishing Kewanee as a destination for local shoppers as well as people from many miles away. Phil Good was dedicated to his local community and supported a number of initiatives to enhance education and quality of life in Kewanee.

The members of the Illinois House of Representatives have honored the memory of Philip Hackman Good with House Resolution 673. We mourn the passing of Phil Good and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew or loved him.
