State Representative Travis Weaver (R-Edwards) issued the following statement in response to Cook County Judge Tracie Porter’s decision to order the State Election Board to remove a Presidential candidate from Illinois’ March 19 primary ballot:
“I am very disappointed with the decision that Judge Porter made yesterday. Democracy works best when we have multiple candidates on the ballot, regardless of political party affiliation. I look forward to a higher court’s ruling on this matter that will restore registered candidates to their rightful place on the ballot this spring. This is yet another attempt by Cook County to try to dictate terms that the rest of the state has to live by. Concerned constituents should contact their local election authority should they have any questions.”
